As the mobile device world continues to expand and progress at an increasingly accelerated rate, BMW has risen to the challenge of integrating drivers’ mobile devices into BMW vehicles with the maximum convenience, safety and ease of use in mind. BMW already offers a seamless integration of drivers’ mobile phones for telephone communications, and a very simple USB connection for users to connect music players such as iPods to a BMW’s stereo system. Adrenaline was running high at BMW Toronto on September 25th! As a presenting sponsor for the 3rd Annual Rally for Kids with Cancer Scavenger Cup, BMW Toronto was proud to provide the perfect venue for the starting line. With Co-Chairs Eva Longoria Parker and Hayden Christensen waving the checkered flag, participating teams paired with their celebrity “navigators” started off from BMW Toronto, embarking on a journey from clue to clue leading them to various pit stops throughout Toronto in their exotic cars. BMW Toronto and MINI Downtown sponsored the first pit stop where participants put their driving skills to the test at Pinewood Studios by manoeuvring a MINI Cooper through an obstacle course in reverse! All proceeds raised go to the Hospital for Sick Children for research and training programs that have the potential to improve the health of children across Canada and around the world.

Targa Newfoundland is the first and only event of its kind held in North America offering a 2200 kilometre course on the paved, open roads of Eastern and Central Newfoundland. As motorsport enthusiasts, Targa knows that limits were made to be pushed and cars were designed to be driven and true to the motorsport spirit, BMW Toronto's Desmond Sie along with partner Herb Wong attended this year's Targa Newfoundland races. Showcasing an Alpine White BMW E30 M3, they placed a phenomenal 3rd place on the first day! Despite being forced to bring their races to an end due to an electrical issue, Desmond is ready to return next year. Great job Desmond!

MINI Service Maintenance Tips

We’ve had quite a few customers inquire about when to bring their MINI in for servicing. The MINI Maintenance System called Condition Based Service (CBS) uses sensors and special algorithms to monitor engine oil, brake fluid and wear-and-tear parts, such as brake pads. Servicing work is then guaranteed to be carried out at exactly the right time – and only when absolutely necessary, rather than at fixed intervals.
With all important information on display in the rev counter, you’re kept bang up to date at all times about the current servicing status of your MINI.

BRAKE PAD INDICATOR: The brake pad wear sensor is located in the brake pads on the left of the front axle and the right of the rear axle. When the brake pads have reached their maximum wear limit, the indicator warning light comes on.

VEHICLE INSPECTION: Of course, the time between services depend on how often and how far you travel, as well as on the conditions in which you drive your MINI. So every 50 kilometres, MINI reassesses exactly when the next inspection is due - when the number starts flashing, you'll know the time has come. During the inspections, virtually every last detail of your MINI is closely scrutinized. Brakes, steering, oil and transmission are tested for wear and tear, all necessary liquids (e.g. oil, brake fluid, antifreeze protection) are topped up or exchanged as necessary and the service interval display is reset.

ENGINE OIL CHANGES: Depending on driving style and frequency, the oil in your MINI will have to be changed between approximately 15,000km to 20,000km. The rev counter tells you exactly how long to go before the next oil change is due. It is recommended that you have the oil changed at least once per year due to the extreme change of temperature in Canada.

BRAKE FLUID: Although you might never want to stop driving your MINI once you're behind the wheel, you still need to change the brake fluid approximately every two years. At the push of a button, you'll know how many days to go before you need this service. And if you forget, your MINI will remind you automatically.
|
And to make MINI maintenance even more convenient, all service information is stored on the MINI remote key. When the MINI is taken in for servicing, MINI Waterloo can retrieve the data using a key reader and know instantly what type of work needs to be done.
