The BMW 3 Series has long defined the essence of the BMW brand. For five decades, it has stood for sporty driving pleasure, unmistakable design, and continuous progress. The new, fully electric BMW i3 builds on this legacy, introducing a new dimension of innovation as the first sports sedan of the Neue Klasse era.
As the next step in this new generation, the BMW i3 represents a significant technological leap forward. Launching as the BMW i3 50 xDrive, it features dual electric motors delivering a combined 463 hp and 476 ft lb of torque. Powered by sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, along with the new BMW Panoramic iDrive and Heart of Joy system, it delivers a driving experience that is both precise and engaging. With BMW Symbiotic Drive, assisted driving also enters a new era.
The design of the BMW i3 reflects a modern interpretation of classic BMW sedan proportions. With its long wheelbase, flowing roofline, and short overhangs, it is immediately recognizable as a BMW 3 Series. Signature elements such as the integrated grille and headlights, and the wide, athletic stance, emphasize both innovation and performance.
Inside, the BMW i3 introduces a clean and immersive interior inspired by the Neue Klasse design language. The BMW Panoramic Vision and optional 3D Head Up Display bring key information directly into the driver’s line of sight, reinforcing the principle of hands on the wheel, eyes on the road. The cabin combines advanced digital interfaces with thoughtful materials and lighting to create a refined and modern environment.
Engineered for everyday usability, the BMW i3 offers an estimated range of up to 700 kilometres and DC fast charging capabilities of up to 400 kW. It also introduces bidirectional charging, supporting Vehicle to Load and Vehicle to Home functionality, with Vehicle to Grid capability to follow.
Sustainability is central to the BMW i3, with approximately 30 percent of materials sourced from recycled content and a strong focus on reducing emissions throughout the vehicle lifecycle.
Production will take place at BMW Group Plant Munich, with Canadian market production beginning at the end of 2026 and deliveries expected in 2027.
With the new BMW i3, BMW redefines what a sports sedan can be, combining innovation, sustainability, and driving pleasure in a way that looks confidently toward the future
